Microsoft 365 costs more at your next renewal

What changed

On 1 July 2026 Microsoft increased list prices for several commercial Microsoft 365 suites. E3 went from $36 to $39 per user per month, E5 from $57 to $60, Business Standard to $14 and Business Basic to $7. Business Premium and Office 365 E1 held their prices.

Existing customers transition at renewal, subject to agreement, channel and currency. Until their first renewal after 1 July 2026 they stay on their current price, so for most businesses the increase lands some time in the next twelve months, on whatever date the agreement renews.

What to check before that date

Count who actually signs in. Licences bought for leavers, shared mailboxes and project teams that have finished are common, and every one of them now costs more.

Check the plan against the user. A team on E3 that uses email, Teams and Office apps may not need E3. Business Premium held its price and covers up to 300 users, so for some smaller organisations it is worth pricing the switch.

Look for overlap. If the business also pays for a separate video, chat or file-sharing tool, the renewal is the natural point to decide which one stays.

A simple way to not miss it

Put the renewal date in Renewal Radar on our Toolkit page and download the calendar reminder. It lands 60 days before the renewal, which is usually enough time to check usage and change the order.
